About CYC

What We Do

Consult Your Community (CYC) is a national nonprofit consulting organization that empowers college students to create meaningful impact in their communities. Through semester-long, skills-based consulting projects, students apply their education, digital fluency, mentorship networks, and unique perspectives to help businesses solve real challenges, identify growth opportunities, and drive sustainable change. In doing so, CYC not only supports local businesses but also develops socially conscious student leaders who are passionate about strengthening the communities around them.

History

Consult Your Community was founded at UC Berkeley in 2013 after a group of students recognized the need to support struggling local businesses that brought value to their community. Since then, CYC has expanded to 28 chapters nationwide made up of over 600 consultants. Together, CYC chapters around the country help over 100 small businesses in an academic year through semester long, pro-bono consulting engagements.

National Conference

Each year, CYC members have the opportunity to attend the Consult Your Community National Conference, where students from chapters across the country come together to celebrate CYC’s accomplishments and look toward the future. The conference also features panels, workshops, and networking opportunities with industry professionals, giving members the chance to learn, connect, and engage with the broader CYC community.
